The Golden Baton Group!
As a young man I grew up in a community that many deemed a place where dreams were not only deferred, but non-existent. Still, I dared to dream and envisioned myself as a successful, productive and giving member of society. I imagined how I might take advantage of the successful people I'd read about and use them as models to create my own businesses. In short, I made an opportunity for myself to grow and develop.
In 2018, The Golden Baton Group was formed in an effort to provide an environment that fosters the flourishing of ideas, industries, businesses, and emerging leaders for people of color. TGBG is now one of the fastest growing mentor networks providing emerging leaders with multiple pathways to develop their business acumen while feeding their soul. The most important aspect of TGBG is the people. Individuals come from all walks of life and both the established leaders and emerging leaders are able to connect in small, intimate settings that allow meaningful connections to occur. These connections catapult Change Agents to the next level of success. In today's world, renewing hope, responsibility to others, and shared communication are more important than ever. TGBG stands to be an anchor for those who dare to dream and allows true opportunities for success to emerge.
TGBG is service-based in that we highly promote a spirit of servitude as a means to thrive in business. From highlighting social impact to encouraging engagement in communities (like the one I grew up in), mentees learn how to give back through community service. With the support and contribution of our invaluable volunteers, members, civic leaders, community partners, and corporate sponsors, we strive to continue fulfilling our mission to enhance the lives of emerging leaders and their communities throughout the Chicagoland area.
